About Endodontics

Endodontics is a subspecialty of dentistry whose broad purpose is to treat the diseases of the dental pulp and related structures. Derived from the Greek; endo - inside and donto - the tooth, Endodontists deal with problems inside the tooth. This involves careful cleansing of the interior spaces, germicidal treatment of these spaces and filling and sealing the spaces.

Endodontists have broad advanced training of two years duration after dental school, and are capable of performing a wide variety of treatment procedures. While there is a common training background for all trained Endodontists, each may have his or her own area of greatest interest or focus.
